The Boston Red Sox are remembering Mike Greenwell with a nice addition to a ballpark uniquely connected to the fan favorite.

Greenwell died this past October from medullary thyroid cancer at the age of 62. He spent 12 years with the Red Sox, getting named an All-Star twice while finishing second in American League MVP voting in 1988.

The Red Sox Hall of Famer grew up in Fort Myers, where the Sox host spring training every year. At the time of his death, Greenwell was serving as the Lee County commissioner, a unique intersection given his history with Boston and the team's connection to that part of Florida.

Fittingly, the Red Sox are paying tribute to Greenwell on the JetBlue Park Green Monster. NESN's Tom Caron shared a photo of the wall, which now features Greenwell's signature and number just beside the foul pole.

Greenwell spent the entirety of his career with the Sox, finishing with a career .303 batting average and .831 OPS. He finished fourth in AL Rookie of the Year voting in 1987 before his MVP runner-up bid in 1988.
