The Red Sox will take on Northeastern in their spring training opener on Friday afternoon.
Boston manager Alex Cora announced that 26-year-old prospect Tyler Uberstine will be the starter for the exhibition contest. Uberstine spent time with Portland (Double-A) and Worcester (Triple-A) in 2025, posting a 3.58 ERA.
Northeastern, which won the 2025 CAA regular season and tournament titles, almost beat the Red Sox last year. Mike Glavine's squad will look to pull off the upset in the 22nd game of this series.
