The New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl and could use some more weapons for Drake Maye.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler recently reported that the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to entertain offers for star wide receiver A.J. Brown. He played for Mike Vrabel with the Tennessee Titans, and pranked Eagles fans into thinking he got traded to the Patriots last April. In Thursday's episode of "Dudes on Dudes" with Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski, he once again trolled fans by making it seem like he wanted to play for the Patriots.

ESPN's Seth Walder proposed this trade that would send Brown to the Patriots in exchange for draft picks:

  • Patriots receive: wide receiver A.J. Brown and 2026 second-round pick
  • Eagles receive: 2026 first-round pick, 2026 third-round pick and 2026 sixth-round pick

The Patriots would be giving up three picks in exchange for Brown and a second-round pick. However, he would certainly help their team.

"The Patriots made it to the Super Bowl with a lacking receiver group that had only one player post over 600 yards (Stefon Diggs)," wrote Walder on Thursday. "But it won't be as easy in 2026, as their regular-season schedule will be harder and it's unlikely the sea of AFC teams with elite quarterbacks will part again for New England. Brown, who had a successful history with coach Mike Vrabel in Tennessee, is a logical fit to provide an instant upgrade."

Brown had just 1,003 receiving yards last season, the second-lowest single-season mark of his career. His relationship with Jalen Hurts has been questioned plenty of times, and a change of scenery could do both sides some good. Brown would get to join Drake Maye, coming off a phenomenal season, and help the Patriots compete for a Super Bowl.

"Even though Brown's production was down last season, the underlying metrics suggest he was still elite," wrote Walder. "He finished sixth in ESPN's overall receiver score and was in the top 10 in open score. Brown is hardly free, but he would add value on his current contract and level of play. The Patriots are surrendering their first-round pick here, but it's really a large trade down since they get a second-round pick back."
