On Thursday night, the Boston Fleet’s own Jill Saulnier made her mark on PWHL history, and perhaps on the Ottawa Charge’s Tereza Vanisova as well. The pair squared off in the PWHL’s first real fight halfway through the third period, exchanging blows while still keeping both helmets and gloves on. It was likely that the decision resulted in the two only receiving two-minute minor penalties for roughing.

The fight ignited TD Place and the Ottawa Charge, who scored two goals in the final three minutes of regulation to force overtime. But it also provided a spark for the Fleet, and Susanna Tapani scored the game-winner with less than a minute remaining in the overtime period for a 3-2 Fleet win.
