The United States defeated Canada in the men's ice hockey gold medal game, and New England Patriots legend Julian Edelman reacted to the win on X.

Jack Hughes scored the decisive goal in overtime to bring the United States its first gold in the event since the 1980 games. Edelman was clearly a fan of seeing the United States topple the ice hockey juggernaut that is Canada.

Edelman knows a thing or two about winning championships. He was a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Patriots and won Super Bowl LIII MVP. Additionally, Edelman knows the feeling of a championship win in overtime.

The USA started the contest up 1-0, but Canada tied things up in the second period. After a scoreless third period, the two countries went into a 3-on-3 overtime period. Hughes gave American fans a moment they will never forget, just like Edelman gave Patriots fans a moment they would never forget in Super Bowl LI, when the Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons in overtime.

That game is famously known as the "28-3" game. While Edelman did not deliver the final blow like Hughes did on Sunday, he made one of the most memorable plays in NFL history. On the Patriots' game-tying drive, Edelman made a diving catch on a tipped ball, securing the ball just inches off the ground in traffic.

The play was reviewed, and ended up being a critical play for the Patriots on that drive. That Super Bowl is one of the most memorable sporting events in NFL history, just as Team USA's win over Canada on Sunday is bound to become.
